Hello MAIS UMs!

The Childrens event this Tuesday 12 of October was a great Success!
150 children participated and 30 volunteers spent half of their bank holiday in workshops with them.
We created 5 workshops in the nearby school Araújo Pinho and children spent 3 hours with music, art and having a lot of fun.
We would like to deeply thank all volunteers who made it possible, from the ones who donated internationally to the volunteers who managed to be there in this children's day!

A special thanks for The Ludic Group (www.ludicgroup.com), the international business design company which sponsored the drawing and arts workshop for all children who took part on the event. Thank you very much for your sponsorship and guidance in creating the workshop.

To all, thank you so much!

Children's day event - Donate an educational comic book for only 35p!

Hello MAISUMs!

This Coming 12th of October is children's day in Brazil. We are helping the community centre of the Coroado Community to make an event for 280 children. We will support the event with workshops which include story telling, drawing and painting, drama, face-painting and balloon twisting!

We are now collecting gifts in a variety of collection points in Rio de Janeiro but you don't have to be there to help. We plan to buy 100 educational local comic books to promote reading and altruistic culture.

Give an Educational Comic Book at £0.35 and we deliver to you on the 12th October!

Each comic book costs approximately £0.35 (we've got a huge discount!) and we are buying those from a foundation (So all profits of that foundation will also be reinvested in charitable actions) for 200 children. If you want to know more about the comic book visit: http://www.planetaazul.com.br/revista.php (portuguese only).

To donate you only need to use our paypal system or contact us on info@coroado.org. You are welcome to donate as many comic books as you feel like!

Have a great week and keep in touch!

Elderly Event

Hey Guys!

We are very happy to post here that last Saturday (31st July) we had our second action the the Coroado Community!

The event target the elderly and 27 members of the community participated together with a great number for 20 volunteers from several parts of the city!

It was great! For who participated, the fun spirit was obvious!

We had a very interesting discussion with the senior people at the community - some of this eliding in Coroado for over 40 years!

They had the opportunity to tell a bit about the Community's history and their own lives, many very tough from hard work.

We've also taken a good time from the event - which lasted the whole afternoon - to talk about their dreams for the community the highlight of the day!

At the end of the event we have done a workshop with flower arrangements so participants could put their dreams and love for other people in the community. This arrangement was then taken home and some were to be distributed to other community dwellers. The whole point was to create a personal objective to make the Coroado Community a better place to live!

We would like to deeply thank all MAIS UM volunteers who managed to capture in details a lot of information which will definitely be useful for new actions in the Community.

All this information will be collated in the next weeks and as soon as we have all documentation ready we will definitely share with you here!

Some of the pictures can already be seen up here in this post! Click Here!

A great THANK YOU to all of those who participated in the event Luana, Renato, Alice Fialho, Michele. Priscila, Selma, Abbadhia, Duda, Regina, Anderson, Luis Leite, Eliane, Alice Peccini, Janaína, Valdenor, Paloma, Nadia, Paolo, Beata, Marcela, Gustavo, Vanda, Marisa, Tatiana, Maria Luísa e Regina!
