Ready to begin the building works!

Hello MAIS UMs

The building works at the community are ready to be started. Last Sunday we held a meeting at the community with their leader, Lindomar, and five other volunteers from the community who work in the building industry and will take part in the work!

They have decided to start the works in mid February and were excited to see the artistic impressions of the the 8 corners of the community (see them here) part of Cely Monti's project.

The building works will start with the reinforcement of the ceiling will follow with finishing the walls so we can start furnishing the space.

We are very excited with this new beginning in Coroado and would like to thank your always present support in spreading the word about our projects and donating!

MAIS UM is helping to build a Community Centre inside Coroado

This December we gathering support to buy building materials which will allow the Community of Coroado to have a Community Centre as they deserve. If each of us "add one" brick or a shelf, we'll re-start our activities in the community already at the beginning of 2013.

Another step given towards the Community Centre dream!

Last Sunday afternoon (the 12th January 2012) MAIS UM volunteers were in the Community of  Coroado once again to present the first draft of the Community Centre Project, made by the architect volunteer Cely Monti.

Based on the results of the workshop of the previous week with the local leadership, the project proposal includes a space which allows for the development of social, cultural, environmental and entrepreneurship projects.

The final project will be presented on the 20th of January and from then, a list of materials to be bought will be generated. This will allow the beginning of  a fundraising campaign by the Community leadership and MAIS UM volunteers will be able to directly contribute!
