Following our PLUG IN model, MAIS UM has managed its first PLUG IN! We have just connected the Community of Coroado with the Rotary Club and the literacy teacher Rebecca. With this connection the club and Rebecca joined our efforts to transform lives of the residents of Coroado Community and we co-created the educational project “Educar MaisUM” (Educate One More). The Rotary Club will provide materials for the students and costs support to Rebecca who will give literacy lessons in the Community Centre and encourage reflective and critical thinking for about 36 youth and adult residents.
Several evening classes will take place in the Community Centre on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays between 7-9 PM. The first session was held on the 6th of November and brought many interested people from the community. The residents came to meet their tutor and learned more about the course. The materials and homework will be handed in during the next class.
